As an exclusively postgraduate university, Cranfield is excluded from the Times Higher Education World University Rankings, which focuses on helping prospective undergraduate students to compare universities.

Many facilities are industry standard, used by other universities and serve as an essential, front-line resource for the UK as a whole. This includes the National Flying Laboratory Centre, the National Wind Tunnel facility, and the National Reference Centre for Soils.

The international community reflects the diversity of many global organizations and multinational companies. Of Cranfield's student body, just under half are from EU countries and the rest of the world.
